But I also am noticing a troubling trend, one that I have always noticed, but seems more prevalent this year: So I decided we need to have a conversation about the complexities of this, and the reasons why this is not ok. I want to start with a story. We did the dreaded Thanksgiving Pilgrims-and-Indians activities every year, complete with construction paper headdresses and brown bag vests.
The wearing of costumes at Halloween may come from the belief that supernatural beings, or the souls of the dead, roamed the earth at this time. The practice may have originated in a Celtic festival, held on 31 October—1 November, to mark the beginning of winter. The festival is believed to have pre-Christian roots. From at least the 16th century, the festival included mumming and guising , which involved people going house-to-house in costume or in disguise , usually reciting verses or songs in exchange for food. Impersonating these beings, or wearing a disguise, was also believed to protect oneself from them.
First off, I'm a relative newcomer when it comes to this company. Based on past reviews on this forum as well as John Marshall's own postings, I finally gave in and placed my order for 6 of their movies a few months back. And here's a review of one that I especially liked. I initially had high hopes for Basement Schoolgirl mainly because I thought the female star, Kirsten, looked quite appealing in the stills and the movie trailer I had seen.
My goodness, that was your best update ever! Well worth waiting for and a real pleasure to read. Jane is a very brave young woman to go through with the roasting scene, but then I already knew that. She's a courageous actress and it shows in the performances she gives and the risks she takes to make a good movie.

Yeah, I really don't get it either. I think you are right that people are just plain stupid. I know that sounds arrogant, but tbh, how can they possibly keep voting for people who only want to make the rich richer? People would LOVE universal health care (just like they love Soc Sec and Medicare). Did you see Michael Moore's doc about that? It would really be cheaper for the U.S. as a whole, it if went that direction. But people see it as socialism. And no way, can they have THAT! (even as we already have it in SS and Med.).
